The Client
Qlue is a leading IT company founded in 2012, with a focus on application engineering consulting. Renowned for its dedicated and passionate consultants, Qlue is committed to delivering high-quality, customized solutions that effectively address client needs. The company fosters a dynamic environment that prioritizes personal growth and professional development, empowering its consultants to excel in their careers while contributing to the success of their clients.
The Challenge
Qlue believes in personal growth and professional development and supports their consultants when they need help. My team and I were asked to build a collaborative knowledge-sharing platform where employees can easily find interesting content, share their own, and leave reviews and ratings to help each other grow professionally in areas they are interested in.
Research
Before we could know exactly what we were building, we needed to know why were building to make sure it would bring value. This involved getting to know our user group and understanding their needs in addition to researching what similar options were currently out there.
Benchmarking
The focus was on layout, rating, filtering, search, comments and reviews. Seeing what works, what doesn’t and drawing comparisons.
Polls & Survey
I ran polls and surveys to get a general picture of what the users wanted and needed to use as a basis from which to dig deeper during interviews
User Interviews
The research told us that our users learn and develop their skills using a variety of media types from books and courses to podcasts and blogs, and the platform needed to handle all kinds of content.
More importantly we learned that there needed to be a focus on trust. We had to emphasize to users that this was a platform where content was added and curated by the colleagues they know and trust.
